Quickly Monitor Your Home Solar System Using WEM3050T
How to Quickly Monitor Your Home Solar System Using the WEM3050T Wi-Fi Energy Meter
Monitoring your home solar system is essential for maximizing energy efficiency and reducing electricity bills. The WEM3050T, a 3 phase energy meter from IAMMETER, offers an affordable and easy-to-use solution for solar monitoring.
This guide will walk you through the quick and simple process of setting up the WEM3050T for real-time solar power monitoring.
What You Need for Solar Monitoring Setup
WEM3050T Wi-Fi Energy Meter
CT clamps (included in the package)
Access to your main electrical panel
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
Optional: IAMMETER Cloud account (IAMMETER provides 3 months of free cloud service for the WEM3050T)
WEM3050T
Step 1: Install the WEM3050T for Solar Monitoring
Turn off the main power to ensure safe installation.
Connect the CT clamps (assuming both your grid and inverter outputs are unidirectional):
Clamp 1: Connect to the grid-side phase (e.g., L1).
Clamp 2: Connect to the solar inverter output (e.g., L2).
Clamp 3: Optional — use for a second inverter or household load (e.g., L3).
Connect the WEM3050T voltage input wires to the same phases you're monitoring.
Power on the meter.
Make sure the CT clamps are correctly oriented — the arrow should point in the direction of current flow (from source to load).
