1. Introduction
Our solar PV monitoring solution includes:
Bi-directional Wi-Fi power meters: the single-phase energy meter (WEM3080) and the three-phase energy meter (WEM3080T, WEM3046T, WEM3050T).
For the WEM3080T series, each model includes three CTs and one meter. The CT cannot be replaced by the customer after the energy meter leaves the factory. It offers three types of CTs: 150A (16mm), 250A (24mm), and 500A (35mm), corresponding to the models WEM3080T-150, WEM3080T-250, and WEM3080T-500 respectively.
For the WEM3046T, the package includes only one energy meter, with no CT included. Customers need to select the CT (XXX:5A) themselves. If you need to monitor a higher amperage, the WEM3046T is a suitable option. You can purchase a WEM3046T and choose three CTs based on the current range. It's easy to find a CT with a 5A output, such as 1000:5, 1500:5, or 2000:5, etc. It's recommended to select CTs with an accuracy of class 0.5 or higher (class 0.1).
For WEM3050T, it offers nearly all the features of the WEM3080T, with the key difference being the cloud service package. WEM3050T includes lifetime access to the basic IAMMETER-Cloud service and a 1-month trial of the Pro service. In contrast, WEM3080T provides permanent access to the Pro version of IAMMETER-Cloud. If you do not require long-term Pro cloud features, WEM3050T is a more cost-effective option.

Bi-directional Wi-Fi Energy Meters
IAMMETER provides multiple models of Wi-Fi energy meters that support bi-directional measurement, suitable for solar PV monitoring. These include:
WEM3080: single-phase meter
WEM3080T, WEM3046T, and WEM3050T: three-phase meters (also support split-phase and can be used as three independent single-phase meters)
All meters are bi-directional and can simultaneously measure energy consumed from the grid and exported to the grid when installed on the grid side. Key parameters such as real-time power, import/export energy, and feed-in energy are available.
If your system consists of a single-phase grid and inverter, you have two options:
Use two WEM3080 (one for grid, one for inverter), or
Use one three-phase meter (recommended: WEM3080T, WEM3046T, or WEM3050T)
We recommend using a three-phase meter, which offers several advantages:
Support for net energy metering
Synchronized sampling across all three phases, ensuring accurate calculations for load power by eliminating timing mismatches between inverter and grid measurements

2.1 Monitor only "From Grid" and "To Grid" energy in single phase system

By installing only one WEM3080 in your single phase solar PV system, you can monitor two-way power and energy , the energy consumed from grid and exported to grid simultaneously.
2.2 Monitor both the single-phase solar and grid systems simultaneously
You have a single-phase solar and grid ,and you want to monitor both of the grid and the solar in your system.
Quick Start for monitoring your solar PV system by WEM3080T
By installing only one WEM3080T in your single phase solar PV system, and clamping the first CT onto grid, the second CT onto solar inverter side and the third CT onto load if applicable (you can also leave the third CT unclamped if not needed), you can monitor "From Grid" (the energy consumed from the grid), "To Grid" (the energy imported to the grid) and the energy produced by solar inverter. You will also see the direct self-use energy and the energy consumed by your load.
2.3 Monitor both grid and solar in split phase system
A split-phase or single-phase three-wire system is a prevalent type of single-phase electric power distribution in North America, commonly used in residential and light commercial applications. It involves supplying two 120 V AC lines to premises that are 180 degrees out of phase with each other concerning the neutral, along with a common neutral.
Because the two-phase output is balanced, measuring the inverter output can be accomplished using a single phase. This is achieved by configuring the meter to multiply the reading obtained from that single phase by two.
